Go sisters Go Entrepreneural

3/1/2011
Kelvin Chasauka
Girls Empowerment through Sport-Go Sisters has embarked on an economic empowerment programme.

The programme is aimed at empowering girls on budgeting, savings and entrepreneurship skills. It is being implemented in two provinces Lusaka and Nyimba (Eastern province). The first induction saw 10 trainer of trainers been inducted in Nyimba and two weeks later, 20 other girls undertook a three days training in Lusaka.

In an interview with one of the trained trainer. Rhodness Nkonkesha 21, from Kalundu rural said she is currently out of school. However she runs a small business of selling charcoal within her location. “The workshop was good as I never understood some basics on how to sustain my business, by means of saving, budgeting, being responsible of your own funds and above all to have a strong vision”.

Sharon Museke one of the facilitators indicated that “apart from inducting the girls with life skill we realised that most of the girls keeps on dropping from school due to different vices and some are getting married. Therefore we thought if they have some skills on how to go about running a business it will help them in future. We also hope to see these girls train others and that they will be able to manage their small business”. The girls that were part of these first inductions are all coaches or leaders in Edusport under the program ‘Go Sisters’
