Introduction:

The South East District Youth Empowerment League (SEDYEL) is an HIV/AIDS capacity building initiative of the South East District Council in partnership with the City of Toronto, Commonwealth Games Canada, UK Sport and Mathare Youth Sports Association of Kenya that was formed in 2005 with an aim of channeling the energy and enthusiasm of young people away from risky behaviors which are the main factors in high incidence of HIV/AIDS in Botswana.

Vision/Mission:

To ensure South East District Youth Empowerment League is well positioned within Botswana to deliver high quality and creative youth sports programming with an increased focus on leadership and life skills development to facilitate greater youth ownership over the program.

How is the organization incorporating Kicking AIDS Out:

SEDYEL has one of the largest unique leagues of its own kind in the country that integrates KAO activities during football clinics/ coaching sessions; empowerment tournaments and league play itself that runs annually.
