Commonwealth Broadcast Association (CBA) is an association of broadcasters throughout the Commonwealth countries founded in 1945. It is a major player in the broadcasting industry, supporting public service media. Its General Conference is a key forum for broadcasters in the Commonwealth and beyond. The Pan - Commonwealth conference is held every two years and runs strong technical sessions alongside editorial and managerial sessions.
Commonwealth Games Canada in collaboration with Kicking AIDS Out Network will participate in this conference with an aim of advocating for broadcaster to integrate International Development through Sports in to their World Cup stories. The ideas around the participation of Kicking AIDS Out are to:
- Demonstrate what Kicking AIDS Out is all about.
- Lead discussions with broadcasters on “what broadcasters are looking for” and “what they have experienced with media” (broadcaster, radio, etc.)
- To capture material and stories from session with tips on how to collect “good” materials.
- Ensure that broadcasters sign up for a declaration on capturing international development through sport programmes and activities or similar programs when collecting material for the FIFA world cup in South Africa 2010.
- Ensure broadcasters/journalists and the Kicking AIDS Out Network are connected for future follow up
