SEDYEL was this year celebrating its 5th Championship Games on the 6th of March 2010. The Championship was part of celebrating Month of Youth against AIDS, it was a unique festival, and with entertaining , exciting football matches with the best SEDYEL teams for both Boys and Girls. The event attracted 800 young people from the five villages from the South East District of Botswana.
The theme of the day was “Young Gifted and Inspired”. A key objective was to encourage young people to lead in the fight against HIV/AIDS, while empowering them at the same time with HIV/AIDS Education and Life skills. The event presented an ideal platform for them to share, learn and make friendship. Our Peer Educators were also conducting Kicking AIDS Out! Movement games prior to each game, with an HIV/AIDS education component interwoven into each game.

The Activity started with a procession from Caltex to the Youth Center, it was fun, with all those young people singing, dancing, blowing vuvuzelas on their way. It was not only about playing games, we had again young people from School for the Deaf who were entertainers for that day, it showed that they might not hear or talk but they are gifted in a way because they were dancing to the music they cant hear but they were going with the beats. We were also happy about the number of Guests who made it to the event, for example representatives from Botswana Football Association, Vision 2016, Ministry of Health, GTZ, Chief from one of the Villages, Teachers from the Schools we work with and not forgetting our GuestSpeaker from GBC TV One;Rabantheng.
