Tree planting is one of the activities that have been initiated to gear up different programs in CHRISC Ndejje. The Tree planting is an activity that is implemented in all the 10 CHRISC Ndejje Local Groups and runs from January to December. It operates in two ways;
Firstly trees are planted as a way of conserving the Environment that is increasingly deteriorating and that in a fast pace. As a way of attracting more people to CHRISC, CHRISC local groups always plant these trees in Schools, Churches, Mosques, and Markets. The tree planting is done whenever there is an event by the CHRISC local groups for example a football league game or of course during a final of a particular sport event. During a final tree planting is included on the program before the game starts. CHRISC groups will plant at the field or within the town where finals are taking place. For the tree planting the local group always invite local political leaders, Cultural leaders, religious leaders, Environmental NGOs in the District and other stakeholders. The program has helped CHRISC to transform youths in the communities.
Secondly the groups plant to generate income for their local group. All local groups in the Ndejje District use the tree planting as an income generating activity. It was started with the aim to supplement on what CHRISC National Office financially supports the local groups with. Fruit trees are planted to supply fruits like mangoes, oranges, and avocados’ to some of the schools in the CHRISC communities.
At the moment, some local groups that started the program have bought Jerseys’, Balls and Boots out of the money from the tree planting and are planning to put in place other projects like piggery and poultry.
In the pictures taken by Kaddu John Bosco the District held a Strategic meeting involving all the 10 CHRSIC district groups, 80 trees were planted in one of the local communities where the meeting was held - Nabbanga.
